The Łagowsko Sulęciński Landscape Park

Read moreThe Park was established in 1985 in order to preserve and protect the outstanding landscape and natural values of the central part of the Lubuskie Lake District.

The Łagowsko – Sulęcińskie Beech Forests

Read moreSulęcin is surrounded by beautiful deciduous forests growing on the banks of two tunnel valley lakes: Buszno and Buszenko, and on moraine hills. These are beech forests, which grow on loamy and sandy soils, and which are a natural type of forests for such a site. The forest stand is exceptionally splendid. Some people say it is one of the most beautiful forest stands in Poland. The Łagowsko – Sulęcińskie beech forests grow on the verge of their geographical range and they are a connection between the Pomeranian beech forests and the mountain beech forests.

The Postomia River and Babski Uskok

Read moreSeveral streams flow out of the western marshy slope of Glinnik (187 m above sea level); they give rise to the largest river in the Sulęcin Region - Postomia.
In the place where these little streams become one rapid stream there is a group of stones, called, according to a legend, Babski Uskok [Woman's Fault].
The legend says that many years ago a dancing party was held in Trzemeszno Lubuskie.

"Jeziorna" Ecological Woodland

Read moreThe "Jeziorna" Ecological Woodland comprises a fragment of a small river valley - the Jeziorna River Valley. The river is from 0.5 m to 1 m wide and up to 0.4 m deep, and it flows in its natural riverbed. Along the Jeziorna Valley flora species growing on waterlogged grounds have their habitat. Land overgrown with carex species, willow and alder scrubs is good for the development of many amphibian species.

The Orchid Meadow

Read moreAn orchid (Latin - Orchis) is a type of a perennial plant belonging to the orchid family. Its typical representative species is Orchis militaris, the Military Orchid. Its roots are two egg- or ball-shaped undivided underground bulbs. There is only one spathous leaf on the stem, and the remaining leaves are centred at the base in the shape of a rose. The flowers are gathered together to form a shapely thick spike on top of the stem. The flowers are placed in the membranaceous and drying stipules, which are shorter than the ovary. The flower labium with a spur is pointed downwards. Some orchid species have developed flowers of specific shapes or smells attracting insects.

Peat Bogs in the Wędrzyn Military Training Ground

Read moreA peat bog is formed in a place where the water level is permanently high and the surface - permanently wet. Due to their qualities, the peats as well as the plants growing on it, absorb water like a sponge, lifting its column ever higher. Peat bog formation is a long lasting process. It may take many thousands of years.
